Review: Catit Go Natural! Pea Husk Clumping Cat Litter
Recently Catit Pea Husk cat litter have been made available in Malaysia and we got our hand on some as soon as possible and try it out our self. The pea husk litter is comparable to the tofu cat litter which are organic and somewhat toilet flushable. Here is what we think about it:
Out of the box
Yes, literally the Catit Pea Husk is pack in a box which is unusual in Malaysia where all of the cat litter is in a plastic pack. One might not think much of the box packing as a big deal but we find that it's a huge deal. For one it is easier to carry and also store. For those that stock up their cat litter this is great. Packing it in a box make it easy to stack to store them. What's more about the box? Our cats love it. After we used up the litter we just our cats have the box. They spend days sleeping in it and destroying it in the same time. We all know how much cats love their boxes.
The Pea Husk
Inside the box the 14L pea husk cat litter is packed separately in 2 7L air tight packing. We can see no dust at all inside the packing. After cutting the pack open we are greeted with a wush of air follow by a pleasant smell. We truly likes the fragrant of this Catit pea husk cat litter. It's smell very natural and not too overpoweringly strong. Our favorite is the lavender. It genuinely smell like real lavender flowers. Though we don't really know how does a pea husk suppose to smell like but it's kind of remind us of vanilla.
As a cat litter
The pea husk cat litters are much more thinner comparing similar product such as the tofu cat litter. It's so tiny it almost looks like ice cream sprinkle toppings. We find the smaller size helps it stick and clump faster as there's more contact surface per volume. Speaking of clumping, the Catit Go Natural! Pea Husk litter clump exceptionally well. It is very sticky once it touch anything that is moist. As a result it hold on to it clumped shape better and there's no visible dust. But if you didn't place a thick enough layer of the pea husk litter in your litter box it might also stick on to the bottom of the pan when the liquid reach down there.
We find that the Catit Go Natural! Pea Husk Cat Litter out perform most other organic flushable litter such as tofu and wood sticks. But compare other non-organic non-flushable material such as Cat Love Odor Defense bentonite litter or Catit Scentless crystal litter beads the Catit Go Natural! Pea Husk couldn't compete in term of odor absorption. But it still works better then most economical China made conventional cat litter. In order to achieve good result we recon that it should be scoop at least once a day. Catit claim that one box of Go Natural Pea Husk would last for 60 days for a single cat but we find that we needs to top up at around 30 days which make sense as you have used up half of the litter and to get best result it's better to top it up. The Catit Go Natural! Pea Husk Cat Litter is definitely worth the money if you're looking for organic flushable cat litter.
